Supporting our locals since the 1950’s

Even though sport has been at the heart of our story, our commitment extends far beyond the field, and the courts. We are dedicated to supporting our community – through charitable initiatives, partnerships with local organisations, and a steadfast commitment to providing a welcoming environment for anyone who walks through our doors.

1950’s

Our story begins in the late 1950’s when football fever swept the country. Back then, it was more than just a sport, it was a way of life. Buoyed by their passion for footy, a group of locals came together with a shared vision: to establish a Junior Football Club in our backyard, which would nurture young talent and foster a sense of unwavering community pride.

Carina Leagues Club, as it’s now known, was founded in 1958 by passionate locals who were driven to start a Junior Football Club, not only to mentor young talent but also to foster an unwavering sense of community pride.

1960’s

The early days were humble, filled with friendship, sports and gatherings. The building of Chadwick Hall in the mid-1960’s became home to thousands of passionate and energetic football teams and bustled with children, families and diners.

1970’s

In the peak of the 1970’s, we proudly became known as Carina Leagues Club and in 1971, became the first venue in Queensland to trade from 10 am to 11 pm.

Our seemingly simple amenities became a cherished gathering place for families and friends. Some gathered on the lower ground of Chadwick Hall for a Friday night movie, while others were on the sidelines to watch some of the state’s best sporting teams compete. Whatever brought you to the Carina Leagues Club in the 70’s and 80’s, you were always welcome and surrounded by friends. During that time we were home to several dining venues and cuisines.

“Locals loved the humble upstairs Chinese restaurant, the 40-cent beers and cheap pub meals!”
